Why 40 frames for 40?
There are certain moments in life where you feel a little nostalgic and for me, this is one of them. For my 40th birthday, I wanted to create something that was a celebration of my love of my motherland of Thanet. As well as, nature and in dedication to my lifelong passion of chasing light, which I feel overwhelming gratitude that I get to call my job. And so ’40 frames for 40′ was born.
The one day exhibition took place at Joseph Wales Studio in Margate on my 40th birthday, Saturday 6th April 2024 in my birthplace of Margate. I felt so inspired to reflect at this moment and curate a collection of still frames that pique curiosity. Creating a day to share and give back to our community, with conversation and connection at the heart.
It was such a special day. I wanted to preserve the magick and have created a virtual exhibition here.

I’ve been working as a photographer since 2010. With storytelling at the heart of my social photography, capturing love stories for a decade and this evolved organically to infuse storytelling and radically authentic expression with lifestyle and branding photography. In fact my journey started with photography in the 90s. My first Saturday job was developing 35mm film at Lawn’s Newsagent in Broadstairs and I’ve had a camera in hand ever since. I feel very humbled that my work takes me on adventures. Deep into nature with folk who are soul aligned. You may have seen my images. My work regularly features in local, national and international publications and has been published in many books across the world.

It was such a moment to see 40 of my images on print. Away from the depths of my hard drives and on the walls of a gallery!
It was made special by the folk who visited. The sharing, the stories, the connection to our local landscapes and love of nature further afield.
I know the timing of the exhibition in the middle of the Easter school holidays meant that some folk couldn’t pop by and so I wanted to bring a flavour of the exhibition online.

I recorded an audio story about each image. Sharing all of the behind the scenes chatter about how the image was taken. Hilarious stories, things I’ve learned along the way and each of these audio stories has been transcribed too.
