Here at this threshold,
I invite you to pause.

Gaze upon the moat, simply noticing the surface.

The shifting patterns.

How the light catches.

The colour flickers.

The quiet wake fanning out from the glorious birds paddling by.

Standing in this historic castle connects you to stories of the past.
Your presence here, on this island, is shaping the narrative of now.

We are all storytellers, whether we realise it or not.

Stories tap into the deepest parts of our humanity.

They meet us where we are, then walk us to the edge of what we thought we knew.

Where the known gives way to the unknown, and we are challenged to reimagine what is possible.

Stories help us remember we belong.

The ancient art of storytelling stirs something in us.

A remembering.

A reconnecting.

Not just to each other, but to earth, sea and sky.

And this is where
ISLANDNESS
begins to drift
into our awareness.

To embody it is to soften.
To root into your wild knowing.
To recognise that islands are not in isolation, but are deeply entwined.

Let your gaze drift now to the bridge ahead.
Physically, a quiet crossing. Metaphorically, a threshold between worlds.

As you look, bring your attention of your inner landscape, to your heart space.
Perhaps placing a hand to your chest, connecting with your inner island. Take a moment to draw a deep breath into your belly. In through the nose, filling your chest.
Out through the mouth, slowly, savouring the exhale.

Let this breath anchor you, a quiet act of remembrance, a pause in the stillness before the crossing.

Turning your attention
to the wild stories
your heart holds,
familiar ones you hold close,
to the new ones you’ve witnessed today.

Stories of polarity, igniting wonder and awe and creating capacity for the ones that sear grief, loss and longing.

Let them rise to the surface.

Let them be held with tenderness.

This bridge an invitation to us all.

To bear witness, to carry those stories forward.

To feel emboldened to amplify nature’s messages.

To become a messenger yourself, a bridge between past and future, between people, between the human and the more-than-human world.

What stories will you carry with you back across the bridge, to empower positive change beyond this island?
