EXPLORING WILD EDGES: An enchanting photography exhibition where nature’s untamed beauty meets human curiosity.

Rewilding our connection to nature through storytelling is at the heart of why I do what I do. I believe stories tap into the deepest parts of our humanity. They help us unravel what we know and challenge us to reimagine all that is possible. My why is rooted in storytelling that rewilds our connection with nature and re-enchants the collective imagination and curiosity that bring us together to live and work from a place of devotion to our planet and take radical action to protect it. This is why I’m so excited to announce my second solo show, Wild Edges photography exhibition.

Wild Edges is an exploration of the places where nature’s raw beauty and human curiosity meet. It’s about the fringes – those liminal spaces where the known gives way to the unknown and the wilderness calls you into the mystery of the untamed. An invitation to pause and go beyond the frame, as you cross the threshold to explore. Expect a dopamine dose of enchantment and curiosity. As you connect to the raw beauty of nature to reimagine what’s possible.

A movement of artistic expression, gender equality and community

My Wild Edges photography exhibition was born when POW Thanet invited me to be their next artist and take up residency for three months on the walls of Albion House Hotel in Ramsgate! I’m a huge advocate of their incredible work and was honoured to be a panel member earlier this year, exploring the topic of rest, women and ADHD.

Supporting POW means investing in a movement which not only elevates artistic expression but also actively promotes gender equality and community engagement. This year, their theme is UNAPOLOGETIC REST as they invite women to embrace the revolution of rest.

An invitation to rest amongst the beauty of nature

In 2024, POW beckons us to a radical thought: What if relaxation isn’t a luxury but a revolutionary act? What if rest is the protest? Where rest isn’t just a theme; it’s a declaration of self-worth.

I believe rest challenges the modern narrative of perpetual busyness and the need for constant productivity and availability. Pushing for a cultural shift towards prioritising self-care and self love.

I found it interesting to discuss what rest looks like, particularly as an ADHDer. For me, time in nature is where I feel most deeply rested and in Wild Edges I invite you to embrace the beauty of nature through my photography. So you can hit the pause button and get curious about how nature could be the secret to finding rest in a busy world as you reimagine all that’s possible.

Unveiling two new image collections

EXPLORING WILD EDGES: An enchanting photography exhibition where nature’s untamed beauty meets human curiosity

In the open, choppy sea off Noss Island, one of the Shetland Islands, chaos descended as we entered the water from a rib to snorkel with gannets diving in for food. With wingspans stretching up to two meters and dive speeds reaching up to 60 mph, the gannets created a stunning, frenetic ballet. This truly unique collection of images captures the intensity and elegance of these magnificent birds in their natural element. As they pierce through the water’s surface with incredible speed and precision. The immersive experience of being amidst these diving gannets, surrounded by the raw energy of their hunt, lends each photograph an almost tangible sense of urgency and beauty.

Captured in March 2023, the fourth eruption in the Sundhnúksgíga series on the Reykjanes Peninsula stared a week before my planned trip was due to happen. Some eruptions have lasted just a couple of days. I was hoping it would be active long enough for us to capture it. We saw it as we landed and jumped in a helicopter the next day to fly over the eruption. These images are totally unique. As this eruption continued for nearly 2 months, took a 20 day break and started again from the largest cone, with lava flow burying all of the cones I have captured! This land will never be witnessed again. I find this mind blowing, such a liminal moment and a fleeting glimpse of how our planet is continuously evolving.

You’re invited!

An exhibition in the the heart of the community

Wild Edges will be exhibited at Albion House Hotel, in Ramsgate from 25 July until 24th October 2024. An independent hotel located in the heart of the community. I’ve shot many weddings there in the past and love their energy and ethos of community and connection.

Built in 1791, the history of Albion House is rich and colourful. Sitting in pride of place on top of the Eastcliff. Looking out over Albion Gardens and out to sea there are stunning views of Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour.

Ramsgate is my hometown and is where I was born, so to have my work exhibited here for locals and visitors to enjoy, prompting discussion and curiosity, is totally epic.

An exhibition of to spark curiosity

As I embark on my journey into my forties, embracing radical self-love and acceptance for every facet of who I am – a wild woman with a camera, a coastliner, an outsider, an educator, a stargazer, an ADHD and a woman who embraces her wild edges – Wild Edges is happening at the perfect moment because it is all of this. An exploration of the places where nature’s raw beauty and human curiosity meet.

It’s about the fringes – those liminal spaces where the known gives way to the unknown and the wilderness calls you into the mystery of the untamed.

Where each photo is a story

Because stories tap into the deepest parts of our humanity. They’re the true currency of human connection, helping us unravel what we know or think we know, challenging us to reimagine all that is possible.

This Wild Edges photography exhibition invites you to cross a threshold to a place where nature’s messages are amplified. Entwined with my own story and how I came to meet those boundaries and wild edges within me.

Because my own story is about Wild Edges, it’s about crossing thresholds and embracing the messy, wild parts of myself which didn’t fit neatly into a box. It’s about going beyond the frame, the expected and creating a whole new perspective on life.

Together at the Wild Edge

A passion woven deep into my being

Rooted in my enduring love for nature and fueled by a lifelong dedication to people, place and planet, my passion for photography is woven deep into my being. It serves as a testament to my unwavering commitment to sharing the awe-inspiring vitality of our world.

Whether collaborating with visionary brands and change makers or marvelling at the awe-inspiring beauty of marine wildlife and the aurora borealis. My sixth sense connection to nature means creating photos is always a process of co-creation. In relationship with the world around us and trusting in the alchemy of the moment, illuminating the liminal space where myth, magick and intellect meet.

Photography isn’t just a profession; it’s a calling, an awakening. For me it’s a mission to reconnect and rewild our connection to nature, inspire change and champion the protection of our fragile ecosystem.

I hope you can join us for the opening night on Thurs 25th July!
