I spend much of my life in the wild edges of earth, sea and sky. Following stories that reveal the relationships between people, place and planet. From there, these stories are shared through speaking at keynote talks, others through writing essays, documentaries, podcasts and media conversations. However, they all begin in the same place: curiosity, fieldwork and a desire to help people see the world and their place within it.

Drawing on more than a decade spent photographing the aurora across wild coastlines and northern landscapes, Rebecca shares insights into chasing this extraordinary celestial phenomenon. From reading the conditions and understanding the night sky to capturing immersive images beneath dancing light, the session combines practical guidance with real-world experience. Along the way, Rebecca blends storytelling, practical knowledge and lived experience from the wild edges of earth and sky. As a result, this session is perfect for photographers and travellers, as well as anyone else drawn to the magic of the night.

On-location presenting
Some stories are best told from within, immersing in the wild edges and sharing about the experience
As an on-location presenter, I bring together storytelling, photography and filmmaking, as well as subject knowledge to guide audiences through places, projects and experiences.
Whether introducing a destination or exploring wildlife, sharing conservation stories or taking viewers behind the scenes of a creative project, I combine authentic field experience with a natural, conversational presenting style.
For example, recent work includes presenting an short documentary for Fujifilm, filmed across Iceland. In this documentary I share stories from the wild edges of earth, sea and sky. Along the way, I also introduce photographic techniques and lenses I use in different scenarios, as well as sharing knowledge about the landscape, wildlife and the creative process.

I’ve been travelling to Iceland since 2014, drawn back each time by its wildness and unpredictability as well as its capacity to surprise. As a result, this short documentary, created with Fujifilm, offers a glimpse into that relationship, as well as the way I work at the meeting point of earth, sea and sky.

Meet the storyteller
Rebecca Douglas is a photographer, filmmaker, drone pilot, and visual storyteller whose work explores the relationships between people, place and planet. With a background as a lecturer as well as a Cert Ed educator, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her storytelling and is available for speaking and writing, as well as media opportunities and collaborations.
Whether speaking at international festivals, museums, conferences or community events, she combines powerful visual storytelling with honest reflections from the field, and in doing so, invites audiences to see the world, as well as their place within it.
Drawing on a background in higher education, a Cert ED, conservation, geography and with over a decade of professional practice, Rebecca’s talks effortlessly weave together curiosity and adventure. As well as lived experience from the wild edges of earth, sea and sky.
Whether photographing diving gannets or documenting humpback whales to working with purpose-led brands and destinations, as a result, her stories encourage people to notice more deeply, think differently and reconnect with the natural world.
