Video FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
GOT QUESTIONS
before we work together
What kind of video projects do you create?
I create authentic, story-led short-form films that help people connect with your brand, organisation or project. Most video production commissions include brand story films, social media content, website hero videos and documentary-style footage that captures the atmosphere of connection between people, place and planet. Whether we’re filming a founder, documenting a conservation project or showcasing a destination, every film begins with understanding the story you want people to feel.
What makes your approach to video different?
My approach to filmmaking is rooted in the same philosophy as my photography.
Rather than directing every moment, I look for genuine interactions, natural movement and the quieter details that reveal character. The result is cinematic, authentic storytelling that feels true to the people and places in front of the camera.
Can you provide photography and video together?
Yes. Many clients commission photography and video production as part of the same project.
Capturing both together creates a cohesive visual story while making the most of the time we’re together on location. It also means you receive a versatile library of content for your website, social media, campaigns and marketing.
What kind of films do you produce?
I specialise in short-form storytelling. Typical commissions include website hero films, founder stories, brand films, conservation stories and social media edits, usually between 20 seconds and 3 minutes in length.
planning your project
Can you help develop the concept?
Absolutely. Some clients arrive with a storyboard and clear brief, while others simply know they want to incorporate video into their project. I’ll help shape the creative direction, identify key moments to capture and create a simple storyboard where appropriate so we make the most of our time on location.
Can you script a brand film?
Yes, where it’s appropriate. If your film includes a piece to camera, interview or voiceover, I’ll help you shape a natural structure that feels conversational rather than scripted. The aim is always to help your personality and message come across authentically.
Can you record audio?
Yes. Where needed, I can record interviews, pieces to camera and natural ambient sound to help immerse viewers in the story. Depending on the video production project, films can also be created using music and natural sound without spoken dialogue.
Can you help us feel comfortable on camera?
Absolutely. Most people aren’t used to being filmed, and that’s completely normal. I create a relaxed environment where conversation comes first and filming happens naturally, helping you feel present rather than performing for the camera. We will always allow time to retake within our plan, so the time feels spacious to get comfortable in front of the camera.
the practical details
How long does filming take?
It depends on the story we’re telling and the output. If we are shooting a collection of clips in a documentary way, these flow in a similar way to a photo shoot. If we are shooting voiceover or talk-to-camera sections, the timeline will be shaped around capturing this. Some films are captured alongside a photography commission over a few hours, while others are filmed across a full day or longer. We’ll plan the production together so the schedule supports the story rather than rushing it.
Do you licence the music?
Yes. Where music is included, I source and licence it through professional music libraries, so your finished film can be used confidently across the agreed platforms.
What format will I receive?
Every video production project is different, but films are delivered in formats suited to how you’ll be using them, whether that’s your website, social media, presentations or campaigns. We’ll discuss your requirements during the planning stage.
Can you create videos for social media?
Yes. Many clients commission a combination of a hero film alongside a series of shorter edits designed for social media, helping you build a consistent library of content from a single shoot.
How long does editing take?
Most films are delivered within 7–10 working days, depending on the scope of the project.
If you’re working towards a launch or campaign deadline, let me know when you enquire and I’ll always do my best to accommodate your timescales.
Do I need video as well as photography?
Not always. Photography and video each tell stories in different ways. Photography invites people to pause and explore a moment, while video brings movement, atmosphere and sound into the experience.
Some projects only need photography. Others benefit from a combination of both. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you decide what will have the greatest impact for your goals, audience and budget.
