One planet, one universe, a lifelong dedication
Through the alchemy of storytelling, I delight in revealing the boundless beauty of our natural world and the profound connection between people and the planet, capturing untold stories through marine life photography.
This isn’t just a profession; it’s a calling. An awakening to inspire change and champion the protection of our fragile ecosystem. Through my lens as a radically authentic visual storyteller, I shine a spotlight on the urgency to protect our planet.
Capturing untold stories with Whale Wise
This week I am writing to you from Iceland. Where I am supporting Whale Wise – a UK registered charity of which I’m proud to be a trustee.
Whale Wise aspires towards an ocean where both whales and humans can thrive through marine mammal research and engagement.
Their incredible team of conservationists, scientists and educators works to improve the relationship between whales and humans. Bridging the gap between science, policy and engagement to support conservation action.
I have joined them during their field season carrying out some impact driven research.
Entanglement in fishing gear is a major population threat to baleen whales worldwide. However, key knowledge gaps still exist with regards to population exposure to entanglement. As well as the hidden health impacts of entanglement for those whales that do survive. Whale Wise fill these gaps with drones, collecting aerial images of humpback whales in the Icelandic Westfjords. Assessing for scars from above to determine the impact of entanglement on whale health. This project is in collaboration with the University of Iceland, Láki Tours and Arvik Ocean.

A passion for photography and ocean activism
As a native coastliner, protecting our coastline is part of my DNA. My passion for marine life photography is woven into every fibre of my being and rooted in a deep love for nature.
There are crucial ocean conservation stories the world needs to hear. I feel honoured to use my voice to share my experiences and insights with others. In fact, I strive to create a positive impact through visual stories and ocean activism. My goal is not only to bring these narratives to life but to also convey a deep understanding of their impact.
Our magnificent blue planet has always held my imagination with its enchanting otherworldliness. My heart beats for our oceans and the vital cause of marine conservation. Growing up by the sea, I developed an intuitive connection with the tides and the moon’s cycle.
With a background in geography, as well as a Masters Module in Marine Protected Areas, you could say I’m fiercely protective of our oceans.

Captivated by the wonders of the sea
As an AuADHD, I often find myself forever captivated by the wonders of the water that surrounds us. Whether I’m tracing the coastline, gliding on a stand-up paddleboard, plunging into the sea with a snorkel, trekking through the wilderness, chasing the aurora borealis, navigating drones through the skies or braving sub-zero adventures, my existence revolves around nature.
Underwater photography and conservation
Nature is where I come alive, both above and below the sea, where my heart and soul find their deepest connection. My work has appeared in renowned publications and media outlets around the world. As well as featuring a unique blend of photography, citizen science and travel writing. Publications include National Geographic, Coast, Conde Nast Traveller, The Guardian, The Telegraph and Ernest Journal, as well as Iceland Monitor.
I’m honoured to have spoken as a guest at several events in 2024. Including The National Space Centre, RSPB, and POW Thanet. As well as The Photography Show, talking about ‘when things go dark’ both above and below water.

Photography as a catalyst for positive change
My life’s purpose unfolds in capturing visual narratives that celebrate the vitality of the world. As well as, highlighting the heartache of the impact on our precious planet and the boundless universe beyond.
My distinctive storytelling style is raw and authentic, capturing both people and nature with intuition, connection and flow. This deeply intuitive connection to people and place, feels like a sixth sense. It allows me to see and sense the world in my own unique way. This is what informs my style and how I shoot in a moment. My aperture style and editing aesthetic, developed over 14 years and creates a visual identity unique to me. Warm and natural, it draws the viewer in with its raw authenticity.
I believe the true essence and impact of my work, especially my marine life photography, is conveyed through the images themselves. The feedback and recognition I receive from clients demonstrates the impact of my work and the connection it successfully achieves. In doing so, it establishes a meaningful connection that goes beyond accolades.

My journey in nature photography has led me on adventures across the UK and further afield. My heart finds solace in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, as well as the enchanting Scottish Highlands.
Beyond my work with Whale Wise, I actively campaign against raw sewage pollution in the sea, supporting Surfers Against Sewage with monthly donations. Every year, I also support marine charities and nature organisations pro bono. Like planting seagrass with Seawilding at Loch Craignish – the UK’s first community-led native oyster and seagrass restoration project. Their aim is to restore lost biodiversity, sequester carbon and to create green jobs.
I also donate profits from my print shop. An online collection of images curated from moments in nature shot across the world. Printed at the UK’s first carbon negative lab, 10% of profits go to The Marine Conservation Society.
Can I support you?
