Redefining Black Friday beyond discounts
As the Black Friday frenzy starts to sweep through your inbox, I wanted to take a moment to share a different perspective.
Black Friday was originally a marker for the holiday shopping season in America. It has become synonymous with jaw-dropping discounts and relentless promotions. But how does it make you feel? Do you find yourself caught in the whirlwind of sales pressure? Perhaps you've contemplated discounting your own offerings just to keep up?
The power of minimalism
Prior to my ADHD diagnosis, my husband and I embraced a minimalist lifestyle. We shifted our focus to celebrating the Winter Solstice instead of Christmas. This shift brought clarity and simplicity to my life, especially as I navigated the intricacies of ADHD.
Minimalism allowed me to forge a deeper connection with my surroundings, be intentional with my possessions and cherish the relationships that truly matter. It brought balance to my nervous system and aligned my values with my actions.
A transformative shift
In a world fixated on the pursuit of 'more,' I firmly believe we’re an integral part of nature. Reconnecting with our souls and nature's untamed essence leads to a transformative shift. It challenges the status quo, ignites activism and compels us to protect our planet with unwavering determination.
As a photographer, I use my lens to capture the world's events, raising awareness and inspiring collective action. My mission is fueled by the belief that when we find joy in something, it becomes a calling - a call to fiercely protect it and confront those who exploit its treasures.
An Alternative Approach to Black Friday: Intentionality and Impact
So, instead of succumbing to the Black Friday discount pressure, why not consider a more intentional and impactful approach this season?
You could pay it forward by donating a percentage of your sales to a charity or organisation that’s dear to you. Perhaps this act of kindness could even become a long-term commitment.
Throughout the year, I support several charities and organisations, from pro-bono work and donations to tree planting. A portion of the sales made through my print shop goes to WhaleWise and Marine Conservation Society, causes particularly close to my heart.
Stand Proud: Rejecting Black Friday Pressure
This is your permission slip to reject the pressure, delete those Black Friday offers and stand proud in your service, beliefs, values and pricing.
Let's make a positive impact together.
