Samhain: Nurturing Our Bond with Nature and Ancestry

The nights I hold dearest are those which are still and dark... Where I’m wrapped up warm but my cheeks are cold. It’s in these moments I can really feel the season, the elemental shift.

A time when I feel the most alive and connected.

It’s like the landscape is talking to me. 

There’s a final glimmer of energy and life before moving into death and hibernation.

Samhain ushers in the darker half of the year. It is a moment that holds a special place in my heart. I'm attuned to the cyclical rhythms of nature and how they interlace with our lives. Samhain, marks the turning point where the veil between living and spirit worlds thins, allowing us to commune with our ancestors, sense their wisdom and explore the depths of our souls. 

Embracing Change and Transformation: Surrendering to the Wisdom of the Season

It's a profound reminder of our interconnectedness with the universe. A testament to the power of embracing change and transformation. Samhain reminds us embracing the dark as going within as we reach mid-point between autumn equinox and winter solstice and descend further into darkness. 

Practices to Embrace the Samhain Spirit: Reflect, Connect, and Renew

If we pause and listen to nature, it's a time when femininity can lead the way. In a world often fixated on perpetual growth, the wisdom of this season whispers words of courage to question the status quo and find our place of surrendering to slowing down as the clocks change and the nights draw in early.

Samhain holds special meaning to me, I always pause with my best friend and together we gather photos of our loved ones who have departed their earthly bodies and talk about our lives and the wisdom we can soak in from the lessons they shared with us. We harness this energy for reflection and set intentions for the year ahead. 

Here are some ways in which this time can be useful (why not grab your notebook and journal on them for a moment):

Reflection and Release:

Samhain is a time for reflection and letting go of what no longer serves you. As the trees shed their leaves, we can take their lead and question things. Can you use this period to reflect on any habits, beliefs or situations that no longer serve your highest good? Try using this time to review your business strategies, assess your goals and priorities, and release any projects or ideas that are no longer aligned with your vision. It's a gorgeous opportunity to declutter mentally and emotionally, making space for fresh creative energy.

Ancestral Connection:

Samhain is traditionally a time to honour ancestors and loved ones who have left their Earthly bodies that return to the elements, but their spirit lives on and is carried in our hearts and by the Universe. It's a moment to light a candle and invite their presence into our lives. Through the soft, flickering flames, we can feel their guidance and love, transcending the boundaries of time and space. This connection isn't merely about recalling names or faces; it's about embracing the collective wisdom and resilience of those who came before us. Can you draw inspiration from the wisdom of your ancestors?

Divination and Intuition:

Samhain is a moment in the year where the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is thin, making it a powerful time for divination and feeling into our  intuitive insights. I love to call on oracle card for a deep reading, drift off from the conscious mind with a meditation and journal all on all of this to gain clarity on decisions, seek guidance, and tap into my intuition. Trust your instincts and inner wisdom. It is your North Star. 

New Beginnings:

While Samhain marks the end of one cycle, it also symbolises the beginning of another. Consider how you can harness the energy of Samhain to set new intentions, initiate projects or launch new offerings. This time of transition can be particularly wonderful if you’re looking to make a fresh start or rebrand.

There is such a deep power of being in circle with women, the shared wisdom, witnessing women in different eras of their lives and nurturing community is a frequency of heart expansion.
